Abstract

Supplier selection is a critical process in supply chain management, directly affecting organizational performance in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and long-term relationships. Selecting the right supplier involves more than choosing the lowest price; it also requires consideration of innovation, collaboration, sustainability, and risk management. This study aims to explore the factors influencing supplier selection in Thai organizations.

A review of the literature and previous research indicates that key factors affecting supplier selection include price, product quality, delivery performance, supplier reputation and reliability, technical capability and innovation, after-sales service, and long-term relationships. Both domestic and international studies emphasize the importance of quality, flexibility, reliability, and after-sales support. Furthermore, environmental and sustainability considerations are increasingly playing a role in supplier selection decisions.

The findings suggest that Thai organizations should develop a comprehensive supplier selection process that evaluates both quantitative and qualitative factors, fosters long-term partnerships, and systematically manages risks. Such an approach can enhance operational efficiency and strengthen competitiveness in the modern business environment.
