Abstract

This study employed a Design-Based Research (DBR) approach. The purposes of this research were (1) to design an audio-integrated e-book to promote English spelling and reading skills for primary school students at the Learning Encouragement Center (2) to compare the students' English spelling and reading achievement before and after using the audio-integrated e-book (3) to examine the satisfaction of primary school students at the Pathum Thani Learning Encouragement Center towards the use of the audio-integrated e-book and (4) to investigate the students' opinions regarding the use of the developed e-book. The target group consisted of 20 primary school students under the Pathum Thani Learning Encouragement Center, selected through purposive sampling. 

The research instruments used for data collection included the audio-integrated e-book for promoting English spelling and reading, an English spelling and reading achievement test, a satisfaction questionnaire, and structured interviews for collecting opinions and suggestions. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation (S.D.), while qualitative data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using content analysis. 

The research findings revealed that The design of the audio-integrated e-book was validated by experts, indicating a high level of appropriateness for research implementation (IOC=0.74). The students' English spelling and reading achievement after learning with the audio-integrated e-book was statistically significantly higher than before the intervention at the .05 level. The students' overall satisfaction with the audio-integrated e-book was at a high-level Mean = 4.49, S.D. = 0.57. The developed innovative e-book effectively enhanced the students' English spelling and reading abilities and was highly suitable for the learning context of students under the Learning Encouragement Center. Since the e-book is a learning technology that allows students to access learning resources anywhere and anytime independently via mobile devices, it provides learners with continuous opportunities to develop self-directed learning skills without classroom limitations.
