Abstract

This quantitative research aimed to 1) develop Grade 2 students' main idea reading comprehension skills using Mind Maps, 2) compare post-intervention achievement against a 70% criterion, and 3) evaluate their working process skills. The target group comprised 9 Grade 2 students at Wat Don Pho Thong School, selected via purposive sampling. This 6-hour classroom action research was conducted in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. Instruments included lesson plans and a 10-item comprehension pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. Results revealed: 1) Post-test scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores at the .05 level. 2) The post-test achievement mean score was 82.22%, significantly exceeding the 70% criterion at the .05 level. 3) Overall working process skills were at a good level (87.65%), with students exhibiting continuous improvement in accurately summarizing main ideas, executing Mind Map procedures correctly, producing neat work, and demonstrating high task responsibility.
