This qualitative research aimed to investigate the current conditions and problems associated with the innovation submission process of maintenance operations personnel. The key informants consisted of 15 participants, including operational employees, managers, and innovation coordinators. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis.
The findings revealed that maintenance operations personnel possess substantial knowledge and practical experience that can be developed into innovative outcomes. However, several barriers hinder the submission of innovation projects, including the complexity of operational procedures, extensive documentation requirements, time constraints, limited skills in documentation and presentation preparation, and challenges in coordinating across multiple departments. Therefore, promoting innovation participation should focus on reducing documentation burdens, simplifying and streamlining the submission process, and implementing support systems for data collection and document preparation. These improvements would increase opportunities for innovation submissions and enhance employee engagement in organizational innovation activities more effectively.
