Abstract

This research and development study aimed to: (1) investigate the problems and needs related to a graduate thesis and independent study process management system; (2) develop the system; and (3) evaluate its effectiveness. The system was developed using Google Sites as a knowledge management platform and a framework for planning and managing thesis and independent study processes. The sample consisted of thesis and independent study advisors, graduate students, and graduate affairs personnel. Three research instruments were employed: a needs assessment and operational guideline questionnaire, a system quality evaluation form, and a user satisfaction questionnaire. The needs assessment was conducted to provide baseline information for supporting educational management. Following system development, its quality was evaluated by five purposively selected experts, and the system was subsequently implemented with 65 users from various faculties at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok. Data were analyzed using the Modified Priority Needs Index (PNI Modified), mean, and standard deviation. The findings indicated that: (1) the overall needs and operational guidelines were rated at a high level; (2) the developed system achieved the highest level of overall quality evaluation, reflecting its effectiveness; and (3) users reported a high level of overall satisfaction. In conclusion, the developed system was found to be appropriate and capable of being effectively applied in real-world graduate education management.
